African fashion industry is buzzing with talents and creatives churning out unique designs, with each day crossing frontiers into the international scene.
Two of Africa’s strongest fashion brands contending in the international scene, Tongoro Studios and Sukeina have been nominated for Essence “Black Fashion Designer Of the Year” Award.
Manned by designers Sarah Diouf and Omar Salam respectively, both brands made it to the final stage of the Essence Black Fashion Designer of the Year Awards.
The brands were both featured in the latest “Global Issue” of Essence Magazine.
This is major achievement for the brands and for Africa as a whole as it provides a huge platform to showcase African fashion to the rest of the world.
Tongoro studio is already a favourite of Beyoncé and Naomi Campbell as they have both been styled in several of their designs one recently in the Beyoncé’s latest Spirit music video.

Omar also posted on his Instagram appreciating Essence for the nomination.
