Former England Champion and UEFA Europa league semifinalist, Manchester United have sympathized with Nigeria following the fans that were electrocuted while watching the second leg semifinal clash between Manchester United and Anderlecht of Belgium.
United on its twitter page tweeted, “Our thoughts go out to the United fans, their friends and families affected by the tragedy in Calabar, Nigeria, on Friday.”
According to a police statement: “Around 10pm we were called about an incident that occurred so immediately our men went there.
“Until this morning we have about seven persons dead, we have 10 that have been admitted to hospital and another one in intensive care.”
Other reports have it that 30 people died but the police have refused to comment further on the matter.
May their souls rest in peace.
