Dirk Kuyt and Brad Jones will all be remembered for their part in the Liverpool side that won the Champions League in 2005.
However, yesterday, Dirk Kuyt who is the captain of Feyenoord and Brad Jones who is the team’s first goalkeeper, created a magic moment for the Dutch side.
Kuyt scored a hat-trick on the final game of the season as Giovanni van Bronckhorst team clinched a first Eredivisie title in 18 years.
Feyenoord had been top of the table every week of the campaign, yet the league crown was still not quite theirs.
With Ajax a point behind and in excellent form, another slip-up would have been an incredible humiliation for a club that been put through nothing but misery over the years.
Ex-Feyenoord player and now coach, Bronckhorst, will be heralded for the belief he brought into the side even though they didn’t play the best of football in the Eredivisie.
One thing is for sure, this is one memory the fans will cling on to for the next decade and just like Leicester City of England, this crop of players will be honoured as heroes of the club for this monumental feat.
