Chelsea moved a step closer to winning their fifth EPL title as they beat 19th placed Middlesbrough 3-0.
By last night’s result, the team is officially relegated.
The Blues, who kicked off the pressure from the start of the whistle went 2-0 up in the first half courtesy of goals from Diego Costa and Marcos Alonso and then added the third in the second half through Nemanja Matic.
However, it was Cesc Fabregas who lit the headlines with his record-breaking 10th assist in six seasons when he lobbed the ball to Matic to score the third goal.
It should have been 11 but his long ball to Diego Costa came off Fabio before Costa tucked it in past under Guzan’s legs.
Chelsea are now seven points clear of Tottenham Hotspurs on 84 points after the second placed team fell 1-0 to London rivals, West Ham, while Middlesbrough joined Sunderland as the second relegated team.
A win for Chelsea in Friday’s game against West Brom at Hawthorns will see Conte lift his first trophy in England.
