Accelerate TV’s Fashion Features brings you an exclusive interview with Fisayo Longe. By now, you should be familiar with this fashion force’s name and her label, KAI Collective.
In this interview, Fisayo speaks to us about the KAI woman and shares her views on why her brand has become so loved.
About Kai Collective
Kai Collective is a London-based womenswear brand, created by Fisayo Longe in 2016. Like its creator, Kai Collective is passionate about women, personifies femininity and strength and through its designs, shows the versatility of all women.
One of the less celebrated aspects of Kai Collective is how inclusive the brand is and how it promotes diversity through its designs and size ranges. This fact alone, means that more women from different parts of the world are able to dress according to what suits them instead of only by what’s available. This may seem like a minor feat, but it isn’t. The Fashion industry has been one of the most exclusive and restricted industries in the world. Through efforts like that of Kai’s, barriers are being broken, and more voices and faces are being heard and seen.
Kai’s tremendous efforts have not gone unnoticed. The label was featured on Beyonce’s website as one of the black-owned labels to support and lookout for. Undoubtedly, she (Beyonce) was right. The release of Fisayo’s 2020 collection, or more specifically Gaia, has propelled this label to heights that to those of us who know her, expected. The Gaia dress has been worn by a number of celebrities and influencers who have posted some of their sexiest and best looks simply because of the dress…that also comes as a mini dress, flowy trousers, an oversized scarf and top.
Kai’s aesthetic speaks of attainable luxury and a unique aesthetic, with a dash of Yoruba heritage that appears from time to time.
