Femi Kuti has been nominated for the Grammy four times in the World Music Category in 2003, 2010, 2012 and 2013. And every time, he did not win the award.

Despite these strings of losses, Femi Kuti believes that his career is not based on winning a Grammy. He believes that if it were, he “would have won one by now.”

He added that the music he learnt and his music today is based on fighting for “electricity, good education, injustice, corruption …” He, however, believes in using his music “as a platform to fight for the underprivileged.”

This revelation comes just a few days to Felabration where millions of Nigerians will come together to celebrate the life and times of Nigeria’s foremost musical legend, the late Fela Anikulapo Kuti on October 15.
