The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) has announced that it has suspended 13 players from both Philippines and Australia over the on-court brawl that occurred during their World Cup qualifying match earlier this month, a match which Australia won.

Ten Philippine players were banned for 35 game, while three Australian players received nine-game bans. These players were ejected from the game during the brawl.

In addition to the bans, the two federations also received fines each for failing to control their players with the Philippines getting a 250,000 Swiss francs fine while Australia got a 100,000 Swiss francs fine.

Meanwhile, FIBA has removed the game’s referees from its Elite Programme, and they will not officiate at any Fiba-sanctioned competitions for a period of up to one year.
