FIFA has temporarily lifted the ban on Peru captain Paolo Guerrero as a Swiss tribunal ruled on his drug ban yesterday after he tested positive for cocaine in October.
The court ruled on Thursday that FIFA should temporarily lift the 14-month suspension imposed by the Court of Arbitration for Sport which will see him participate in the World Cup.
This comes after the captains of Peru’s Group C rivals Australia, Denmark and France wrote to FIFA asking them to lift the ban.
Guerrero inspired the small South American nation to Russia 2018 despite the odds stacked against them.
