I have a dream that one day I’ll wake up with the skin of a newborn. That soft, clear, flawless skin that you only see in movies. Only with this can I comfortably sing Beyonce’s Flawless and not feel like a fraud.
The thing is, flawless skin isn’t just a thing dreams are made of- it’s totally achievable and there are a lot of ways to go about achieving the skin you want but one must identify what works for you. Different people have different skin types. However, in whatever skin care regimen you decide to adopt, patience and consistency are the virtues that will ensure you get there. Here are a few tips to help you take a journey to the land of flawless skin.
There is a strong connection between what you eat and how you look. A healthy body will always reflect healthy skin. A balanced diet is an important factor for a healthy and vibrant skin. It is advisable to consume foods that are high in antioxidants, such as vitamins A, C, and E and selenium. Foods like berries, tomatoes, olive oil, sweet potatoes, spinach and dark chocolate should be a regular part of your diet. This will help keep your skin well protected and nourished.
- Protect your skin from sunlight
A tropical country like Nigeria has sunlight in abundance. The melanin in your skin absorbs the sunlight but that doesn’t mean excess sun cannot hurt your skin. So always use a cream that has sun protection like Shea butter.
This is just a fancy way of saying ‘removing dead skin’. When you exfoliate, the dead skin is removed, giving way to the new and radiant skin. Most people make the mistake of exfoliating only their face. For a complete flawless skin, you have to exfoliate from head to toe. It doesn’t have to be done every, it can be done at least twice in a week. There are different exfoliation routines, research the one that works for you.
Remember to hydrate your skin both inside and outside. Drink enough water and wash your face regularly. This will help you get rid of the germs on your face that can cause you to break out. Also, avoid touching your face because you touch a lot of dirty things and can transfer the germs to your face. You must wash your hands first.
This does awesome things for the skin; to revitalize and rehydrate the skin, it is essential. Moisturizer’s protect the skin from wrinkles and makes it less aged and plump. Before using a moisturizer, you must always wash the skin first. Use moisturizers that are specific for that part of the body. This is because the contain elements that are required for that specific part.
These few steps, well applied with patience and consistency will help you achieve that flawless skin you think you could have never had.
