Niki Lauda, who was one of the best formula one racers in the world died on Monday at the age of 70. His family made public the news of his demise in a statement.


According to the statement, Lauda died nine months after he had a successful lung transplant surgery.

The statement read thus:

“With deep sadness, we announce that our beloved Niki has peacefully passed away on Monday. His unique achievements as an athlete and entrepreneur are and will remain unforgettable, his tireless zest for action, his straightforwardness and his courage remain.”

“A role model and a benchmark for all of us, he was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather away from the public, and he will be missed.”

Niki Lauda grew into fame after he survived a ghastly motor crash at the German grand prix and got badly burnt but he miraculously recovered and returned to the racing tracks six weeks later.

The F1 legend had won the F1 Drivers’ championship in 1975 & 1977 with Ferrari and later on he won with Mclauren in 1984.

His surprising comeback after the accident and rivalry in 1976 with James Hunt (a british driver) made the plot of the movie ‘Rush’.

We also reported that Tyson Fury wishes to rematch against Deontay Wilder in the year 2020.
