We understand that anxiety is a common response to a pandemic. However, it isn’t the best response because, under anxiety, wrong decisions can be made which only causes more problems. Extreme cases of anxiety could cause a person’s lack of concentration, physical pain, difficulty sleeping, and eating and even general stress which could lead to illness

It is important to remember that in order to overcome anxiety, you must remain sensible and keep your minds free from triggering thoughts.

Here are ways to overcome your COVID-19 anxiety:

1. Try to find ways to relax:

Spend the time you’d rather be worrying by relaxing. Whether it’s by catching up on movies and series on Netflix or watching Accelerate shows or reading your favorite book. Just try to relax and think good thoughts only. Meditation also helps.

2. Take precaution

Certain health and safety guidelines have been put in place such as; washing your hands frequently for 20 seconds, making use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, cleaning surfaces, STAYING AT HOME etc. Adhering to these guidelines will not only help relieve your stress and anxiety but will also help decrease your chances of contracting the virus.


3.Limit your Social Media consumption

Limit your consumption of social media content such as Tweets about Covid-19 and Whatsapp BC’s which are mostly triggering and false. Avoid and even warn your social media followers and friends on WhatsApp to quit sharing triggering content with you. If you have to, unfollow, block or report followers who flood your timeline with triggering and false information, please do. Or, you can take a break from these platforms entirely.

4. Stay in touch with family and friends

Whether you’re ten thousand miles away from your family, friends, or loved ones, you can still connect with them and experience the warmth of family. Maximize tools like FaceTime, House party, WhatsApp, Twitter as well as Instagram to stay in touch with your friends and family. Everyone is bored and online now, so it’s guaranteed that they would be available.

These people know you well and spending time with them can help relieve your stress.
