The Falconets’ quest to move to the next round was left shattered after they fell 2-1 to Spain at the 2018 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup played yesterday.


Aitana Bonmati put the Spaniards ahead in the 13th minute and got the second when Patricia Guijarro got the second goal deep into first half added time.

The Falconets started the second half the stronger of the two teams and were helped by goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie who made sure the score remained at 2-0.

Peace Efih then reduced the deficit in the 57th minute thereafter the Falconets continued to press for an equalizer.

Spain will face France who defeated Korea DPR 1-0.
