So word going round is that our own Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, is among the cast for Marvel’s blockbuster, Avengers: Infinity Wars.
A popular movie review website IMDB revealed that Akindele will will be a member of Dora Milaje, a team of women who serve as personal bodyguards of the Black Panther, the spiritual leader of Wakanda.
She will star alongside international movie stars Robert Downey Jr and Chris Hemsworth, as well as Scarlett Johansson, Benicio Del Toro and Chris Evans, in the movie set to be released later this year.
Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel also feature in voice acting roles.
A brief summary of the movie reads: “In the sequel to Avengers: Age of Ultron , Iron Man, Thor, the Hulk and the rest of the Avengers unite to battle their most powerful enemy yet — the evil Thanos. On a mission to collect all six Infinity Stones, Thanos plans to use the artifacts to inflict his twisted will on reality. The fate of the planet and existence itself has never been more uncertain as everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment.”
It will be the first time a Nigerian-born actor will appear in a Hollywood superhero movie.
The “Avengers: Infinity War” movie, will be released on May 4, 2018.
Thinking back to her roles in Jenifa’s Diaries, we can totally picture Funke Akindele as some tough action ninja fighting for what she believes in.
We are super excited for the award winning actress. #AfricansKillingIt.
