Invigorating, thrilling, eye-catching, picturesque and attention-grabbing. These words are not enough to describe HBO’s Game of Thrones series.
From episode to episode, scene to scene; the soothing poetic dialogue exchanges between actors and actresses, the subtle banter and sarcasm, the mystery and suspense, the undelayed resolution of conflict, the Dothraki language, the unsullied castrated army, the Nightwalkers, the ultra-realistic dragons and of course the fantastic cast who delivered their lines with almost perfect dexterity; Game of Thrones came, it entertained, held millions around the world spellbound and it ultimately conquered.
Now Game of Thrones has finally ended after eight enthralling seasons. However, it has generated a lot of comments from fans across the globe especially on the way it was concluded with Bran Stark expectedly or unexpectedly sitting on the Iron Throne. This is enough to last for a lifetime.
We are not going to dwell on the widespread comments on Game of Thrones and the grand finale but on the life lesson everyone can learn.
An important and key life lesson from the final and last episode is that the race is not for the swift or strong…
Bran, who became King of the six kingdoms-the Vale (home to The Eyrie), the Stormlands, the Reach, the Westerlands, the Iron Islands, and Dorne was not the strongest or fastest. In fact, he was the weakest of them all having been pushed off a window by Jaime Lannister thus paralysing him.
Fortune inadvertently smiled on him after he became something better-the Three-Eyed Raven. This gifted him with the ability to see visions and flashes of the future as well as making him more retrospect, strange, distant and bizarre. No wonder he was the main target of the Night King.
Meanwhile, Jon Snow, Arya Stark, Sansa Stark, Brienne of Tarth, Daenerys Targaryen, Cersei Lannister, Jaime Lannister and Tyron Lannister fought, killed, deceived and betrayed to sit on the Iron Throne. They were among the strongest characters in GOT.
Jon Snow widely favoured to take the Iron Throne was sent to the night’s watch, a fatally stabbed Daenerys was taken away by the dragon, Sansa Stark cunningly subtracted the North from the seven kingdoms and Arya Stark wandered off on her own.
Quite surprising because these are the guys who were bloodied on the road to the Iron Throne and at the end, they went their various ways, leaving Sansa to run the North and Bran & Tyrion Lannister (hand of the king) to manage the affairs of Westeros.
Truly the race is not for the swift or the strongest…In whatever we do in life, we should be strategic, patient, calculated and pick our battles. Not all battles are meant to be won. And when the opportunity comes to shine, do not hesitate to grab it with both hands because you deserve it!
