Following what would be termed a gruesome pre-finale episode, Game of Thrones fans have petitioned for a redo of the season 8 of the series.
Apparently, fans are upset about the turn of events in Season 8, Episode 5, where Daenarys appears to have turned into a mad queen, like her father was known to be, burning an entire city to the ground with its women and chldren.
Many believe the writing for the season has been lazy and incompetent.
To this end, a petition was started on change.org, stating that, “David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven themselves to be woefully incompetent writers when they have no source material (i.e. the books) to fall back on. The series deserves a final season that makes sense. Subvert my expectations and make it happen, HBO!”
Unlike its start, the sixth, seventh and eighth seasons have not been based on author George R. Martin‘s books, a fact many believe to be the problem. Others proclaim that co-creators Benioff and Weiss are too focused on their next project, Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker.
So far, the petition has garnered over 26,000 signatures, with the creators asking those joining the fight to explain their reasoning.
A fan wrote: “I understand it’s GOT but don’t trust 8 yrs of character building for what they think will shock and awe us.”
Another wrote: “Because season 8 is a joke and an insult to the fans who have invested 7 years of their lives into this… if HBO wants to keep having fans they should respect them.”
Benioff and Weiss had explained a little of their side of the story in past interviews though.
So would you like a redo of the season 8?
