The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon 2021 Is Almost Here

It’s January, so the festive season is over. It’s time to refocus and set your fitness goals for the year. And what better way to start than with The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, scheduled for February 13th, 2021.

Honestly, the timing couldn’t be better. If you start training now, not only will you have just enough time to boost your stamina and make sure you’re ready for race day, but you’ll also get ahead of the less than flattering New Year bulge. Sounds like a double-win!

The Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is for runners of all levels. It doesn’t matter if you are just starting your running journey or an elite runner—there’s a race for you. The Marathon includes a 10km race, a half marathon which is 22km and of course, the full 42kms.

If you’re still reading, that means you’re interested. So DO IT! Here are a couple more reasons why you should:

  1. Consistent training will support your overall cardio-vascular health. No matter your age or fitness level, this is something everyone should take seriously. Your endurance and heart strength will increase and you’ll get those amazing runner’s legs you’ve been wanting for years.
  2. Running the marathon doesn’t have to be about you only. You can run for a cause you’re passionate about. Running for something bigger than you, will keep you motivated because you know other people are counting on you.
  3. The asphalt has been a place where many friendships have been forged. Ask the Road Warriors—a private Lagos-based running club. Any runner will tell you how tight-knit, welcoming and diverse the running community is.
  4. You’ll get a sense of accomplishment that no amount of money can buy. Setting a goal to run 42kms at a single stretch is nothing to be looked down upon. Most marathoners equate this emotional feat to a meaningful life event such as their wedding or the birth of a child. Does that sound extreme? Well, how else would you explain the reason some runners cry at the finish line? No. It’s not from pain.
