Defending champions Golden State Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 124-114 albeit controversially to take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals.
Lebron James record high 51-points was overshadowed by a controversy when an offensive foul called against Kevin Durant was reversed upon review while Tristan Thompson was ejected for an altercation with Draymond Green.
Late in the fourth quarter, James’s teammate JR Smith ran down the clock instead of attempting a game-winning shot or passing to James himself which took the game to overtime.
The Warriors then dominated the overtime, outscoring the Cavaliers 17-7.
Game two will take place in Oakland on Sunday night.
