Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, who is the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum spoke to newsmen in Akure reassuring them that the internal issues which the All Progressives Party (APC) is undergoing will not affect the support for his candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu.
He also spoke concerning the defection of some of the party’s members ahead of the November 26th governorship election which happened as a result of the said disagreements.
He also assured the press that they are not jittery as regards the defection, but just concerned. “We are not happy that we are losing some of our illustrious sons of APC but I will call on them to make haste and come back.” he says.
The governor spoke lightly on the defection of Mr. Olusola Oke to Alliance for Democracy (AD) party. He also informed journalists that Mr. Oke’s campaign flag off which took place on Monday in Akure, can be recorded a rally that has witnessed the biggest crowd so far in the series of rallies ever held by the AD party, although the APC had accused Mr. Oke of renting crowd.
Mr. Okorocha noted that the defection of both Mr. Oke with the inclusion of some other members of the party can be blamed on poor communication and he further stated that all the APC governors and Bola Tinubu are in support of the APC candidate. According to him, Akeredolu was never imposed by anybody.
“The problem is that like in all families, we have communication gap. We are all together and by the grace of God, Ondo State will be APC compliant.”
