Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 has reportedly been put on hold following director of the movie, James Gunn’s controversial sacking.
According to reports, crew members who were preparing for pre-production are being dismissed and have been told they are free to look for other work.
The report adds that the production hold is temporary and will give Marvel and Disney time to ‘regroup’ as they look for a new director. The third installment of the $1.6 billion-grossing franchise was set to start filming with Gunn directing.
However, Gunn was let go by Disney in July after a number of controversial tweets from 10 years ago resurfaced, in which the director joked about pedophilia and rape.
His sacking has been heavily criticized by many, including the cast of the film, who offered their full support for the filmmaker in an open letter. Chris Pratt went so far as to say that he’d like to see Gunn “reinstated as director of Volume 3”.
