Ones beauty regime does not have to stop at face and skin, but your hair also counts. Taking care of your hair can become tricky because different things work for different hair types. However, there are some general misconceptions that we have to let go of if we want to get the best hair care.

-Air-drying is better than blow-drying : A study shows that while blow-drying can cause damage to the hair surface, air-drying causes damage within the strands. This is because your hair exposed to water for a long time swells up and causes a strain in the protein that keeps your hair in tact. The better option is to air-dry 75% and use low heat to blow-dry to finish.

-Dandruff shows scalp dryness: This is the opposite. Dandruff is caused by a yeast that thrives in oily environment. So washing your hair everyday will not dry out your hair causing dandruff. Use medicated shampoo to get rid of the flakes immediately and as often as possible.

-Trimming your hair every 6 weeks helps add length: Trimming has not direct link to hair growth because that takes place at the scalp area. Instead trim your hair every 12 weeks in other to avoid split ends and breakage (all signs of unhealthy hair). This is an enemy of hair growth only because even when you add length, you lose it through breakage an split ends.

-Rinsing your hair with cold water will make your hair flat and shinier: Since your hair is made up of dead cells, hot or cold water will have no effect possible in closing up your cuticles. Instead, spend a little more cash and get a good conditioner for smoother and shinier hair texture.

-Wearing your hair up can cause it to fall out: This completely depends on how tight your up-do is. A tight ponytail will create tension on the follicles and cause your hair to fall out. If you are experiencing front hair loss, go easy on the rubber band.
