Music queen, singer, songwriter, record label owner, and actress (basically an entrepreneur) Beyonce, recipient of about 20 Grammys, richest female artiste and second richest celebrity in the world, according to Forbes, actually has a few tips for success.

Evan Carmichael has packaged a video on Youtube, which features the star highlighting valid points that helped her to success and that she believes will help others also.

She says no matter what you do, there are certain values you must embrace in order to be successful:

Here they are:

  1. Work Hard:

“Everything I’ve done, I’ve worked so hard for, until my toes are bleeding and no complaints,” says Beyonce. The artiste believes that the more you work hard for something, the more you cherish it. You cannot afford to disrespect all that you have worked for.

2. Be Competitive with yourself:

“Every Time I write an album, I go and watch all of my performances and try to figure out all that could have worked better, and my references are my previous works. I go back to myself and try to better myself. So I’m really tough on me more than anyone else.” Beyonce says she does not bother competing with others, especially not her husband, Jay Z. She would rather try to beat her own past performances than those of others.

3. Be Creative:

“I’ve always been a creative child and my parents encouraged it.” Whether it was writing songs, poems, making clothes, putting on shows and performances, etc, Beyonce was always doing something creative. She notes that it helps children build confidence and feel good about themselves.

4. Always Keep Progressing:

“Progressing as an artiste is what success means to me.” She advises that whatever you are in to, you have to challenge yourself and ensure you are achieving better results than you were in the past. “I always want to challenge the music industry. I feel like it’s my job to create the new up tempos, it’s kinda my job to set the tone, and to be the example.”

5. Don’t give up on your goals:

“I believe with hard work, a goal, love and positivity, then we are going to be fine.”

6. We are all stars:

“I think a star is born a star, absolutely… I feel like we all are stars. We all have it, we just have to figure out what that thing is that we are supposed to be doing in life.” Beyonce says, from experience, that it is vital to identify your gift at a young age, because it means you have already started developing it from that young age, making you a master by the time you are grown.

7. Trust Yourself:

“Know who you are; perform, practice. It doesn’t matter if you are in front of a large audience or not.” The songwriter, notes that even though her own record label did not really believe in her as a teenager, she used the opportunity to develop herself and constantly wrote, rehearsed and performed. We see the result today.

8. Get up when you are down:

“We don’t always feel beautiful. Sometimes we have our days where we feel under the weather, sad, overwhelmed and for me, when I have those days, I try to put on my best outfit and my sexy heels and wear my makeup and when you look good, you feel good.” So when you are feeling down, Beyonce says to pull yourself together, and it is the beginning of overcoming whatever you are going through.

9. Keep your life balanced:

“The industry has various challenges, and the worst thing is when I have to keep my life balanced and still make time to spend with my family and my friends and still make time for my career.” Everything has to be balanced.

10. Reach for the stars:

“It was very risky for me to step out on my own. Being a young woman, I want to set the example that it is possible to own our own businesses and record labels. Sometimes, we don’t reach for the stars, we are satisfied with what people tell us we are supposed to be satisfied with and I’m just not going for it. I booked the studio myself and paid for it myself,” Beyonce says.

So what’s your excuse again?
