Female empowerment is an extraordinary and somewhat overwhelming act, just ask super model Bella Hadid. At the New York Fashion Week For Fall 2017, Hadid led the pack wearing a top that reads “THE FUTURE IS FEMALE”. (Hell yeah!)
She was followed out to the runway by other girls in T-Shirts stamped with political slogans; ‘Revolution has no borders’ ‘I am an immigrant’ ‘Never the less, she persisted’, for the final show case of eponymous label, Prabal Gurung’s ready to wear fall collection.
The Creative Director, of the label, Prabal Gurung was not left out of the show, as he ended the parade in a tee of his own that read “This is what a feminist looks like“.
The Singapore-born designer is persistent, committed to using his platform to spread messages he believes in, in spite of being blown back on his Instagram, when being political.
“The whole show was about women’s empowerment, self-love and powerful strong women,” Hadid told newsmen.
“Prabal doesn’t tell us to walk. He says, ‘be yourself, be the way you want to be, be happy, be strong.’ Every single girl here is so strong and beautiful in her own way. I was crying during the finale. Right now the way the world is, it’s a beautiful message to pass along,” she said.
Seems like political statements are rocking the runway this season and Prabal has some supporters already on board as Sarah Jessica Parker, Priyanka Chopra, Diane Kruger and Huma Abedin cheered him from their seats on the front row. Well done Prabal- and well done Bella!

Speaking of Bella, have you heard who her ex The Weeknd is dating?
