I am a foodie (as you might have noticed by now). I love good food. I crave learning new recipes so I improve my culinary¬†skills. My friend has always loved to talk about his Yamarita Delight and I’ve always wondered what on earth is in it (apart from the obvious yam). The thing is, I have this fear of trying out new food (don’t ask me why). So what exactly is Yamarita?

 

Yamarita-and-Pepper-Sauce

 

Thank God Youtube is our friend. It turns out Yamarita is some kind of fried yam and sauce. And here’s how you make it!

  • A tuber of yam
  • 2 eggs
  • flour
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Salt
  • Ground pepper
  • Seasonings
  • Fresh pepper
  • Tomatoes
  • Onion
  • Boiled Fish

How to Prepare

-Peel the yam and cut it into rectangular sizes. Place them in a pot, add some water and salt then boil for 10 minutes. Make sure it doesn’t exceed 10 mins.

-Sieve the parboiled yam till it’s cold. Break the eggs in a bowl add some ground pepper and salt and mix it all together. In an another bowl, get some flour.

-Dip the yam inside the egg mixture and make sure it soaks afterwards, going deep into the flour. This process is very important as this what makes yamarita delight.

-Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the yam until it is golden yellow.

And for the sauce;

-Blend your pepper and tomatoes with onion. Fry with oil and add seasonings and fish. Wait for 5 mins and there you have it. Dish your yamarita and fish sauce and sip on some lemonade.
