We all have a little more time on our hands so why not finally learn to master an immaculate manicure at home.

At least, a manicure is something small that we can control, even before the isolation,

Some of us had tapped into our inner nail artist yet some like me were still lagging behind.

Let’s forget about GEL manicures for now since most females may not necessarily own the UV lamp.

Nevertheless, you can achieve an immaculate manicure from home that will have everyone second-guessing if its gel or not.

Manicure Tip Of The Day
It is generally easier to apply polish to one hand, dry first and then follow with the same process for the other hand once the first is dry.
Trust me patience is not just a virtue, it’s a vital ingredient to achieving the ‘gel-like manicure’ that everyone will be envying via ZOOM.
Scroll to follow the 9 easy steps

STEP 1: PREP YOUR NAILS FOR THE MANICURE

Before starting any manicure, this is the recommended preparation;
Begin by trimming any dead skin or hangnails making your fingers look untidy,
File nails into your desired shape
and push cuticles back gently with a cuticle pusher.
Most people omit this part but it’s also important to wipe nails with a cotton pad soaked in polish remover to cleanse them of any previous polish or residual oil.

STEP 2: APPLY BASE COAT

Apply your base coat, first and foremost.

STEP 3: DRY BASE COAT

Now it’s drying time.
LEAVE your base coat TO DRY properly via air drying or using a hand fan
and don’t forget that this is the foundation of the whole manicure.

STEP 4: FIRST COAT OF COLOUR

Select the nail polish shade that you desire,
then apply a light coat of colour to nails.
To maintain tidiness, do not ignore the little things!

It’s vital to remove any polish touching the skin and clean up around each nail,

prior to the drying process.
You can achieve this by using a cuticle stick dipped in nail polish remover.

STEP 5: DRY YOUR COLOURED POLISH

Once your polish application looks flawless, set it under the fan or leave to air dry.

STEP 6: REPEAT STEP 4 AND 5

Repeat the polish process again by painting on a second coat of colour, cleaning up imperfections, and drying.
As this coat of colour will be the most visible one, do not mess your hard work up.
Ensure the coverage is evenly distributed and immaculately smooth before setting.

STEP 7: APPLY AND SET TOPCOAT

When you’re satisfied with your colour, it’s time to seal with a topcoat.
Apply a clear setting polish, clean around the nail area,
then dry using the same process.

STEP 8: FINISH MANICURE WITH CUTICLE OIL

Once all coats have been cured, top with cuticle oil to give nails a divine gel-like finish

STEP 9: WASH HANDS ET VOILA!

To remove unwanted residue from your manicure,
wash your hands and you’re done.

(Plus now more than ever, amidst the virus,
since we are imbibing a handwashing culture,
just do the needful and wash those hands.)
