Iceland player Jón Daði Böðvarsson led his teammates to pay tribute to Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Carl Ikeme ahead of their meeting with the three-time African champions on Friday.
Ikeme who was diagnosed with leukaemia and left out of Rohr’s 23-man squad, was Böðvarsson’s teammate during the 2016/2017 season with Wolves.
In a statement on Twitter, Böðvarsson stated, ”All of us in @footballiceland are with you @Carl_Ikeme 👊🏻❤️”.
The 26-year old was an unused substitute during Iceland’s impressive 1-1 draw with Argentina on Saturday afternoon.
