Enyimba goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa will be part of the Super Eagles squad to face Poland in an international friendly in Wroclaw on Friday after he was able to make it to the training camp in time yesterday.
The Enyimba goalkeeper was in action for the Aba side against Energies FC in the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday, so could not travel with the contingent that departed Abuja earlier this week.
Captain John Obi Mikel, Chippa United Daniel Akpeyi, Al Ahly of Egypt Junior Ajayi and 2018 African Nations Championship star, Gabriel Okechukwu, all won’t make it to Poland due to a visa hitch but may be available to the Serbia friendly.
Yesterday, ADO Den Haag’s Tyronne Ebuehi did not participate in full training with the rest of the squad this afternoon as he had to train alone to improve his fitness. It will be recalled that the Dutch-born defender only recently returned from a groin injury.
Meanwhile, Ezenwa has stated his belief that the Super Eagles will go all out for the World Cup trophy when they travel to Russia for the World Cup in three months.
In an interview with Goal.com, he said, “We’re looking to go forward as far as the semi final or final and I think that’s every player’s dream.
“When you go to a competition, you have the ambition [that you] want to lift the trophy, and that’s the zeal we’re going there with,
“I think with God, all things are possible.”
The Nigerian Super Eagles have never before advanced past the Round of 16 at the World Cup and will seek to break the barrier as they embark on their seventh World Cup campaign in June.
