Asides bringing us soulful music, Waje Iruobe’s new album Red Velvet took album photo art to the next level as she transformed to a more experimental version of herself.
The songbird took it a step further with an extraordinary, fashion forward album art.
The shoot, which was photographed by renowned photographer and artist Lakin Ogunbanwo shows a moody album art with Waje in a series of avant garde poses and silhouettes, stylised hair and makeup – from an origami-esque, voluminous pastel look to a severely cut afro bob.
Waje took to her instagram to announce the album art:

“On the 7th of December 2018 my team and I gifted the world with my sophomore album #REDVELVETbyWaje
If you have listened to this album, you would agree that the best way to describe it is ART so we present to you – Waje as Art –
What song represents this image?
…I am so proud of this work of ART…”
It’s easy to see with Obasi‘s lenses, the artistic re-definition of the singer. A bold, edgy, au naturel Waje that definitely leaves it’s imprint on the mind. We look forward to a more risqué Waje in 2019.
