During the week the hip hop mogul Sean Carter(Jay Z) was nominated for a spot in the Songwriters Hall of Fame. This Nomination gives Hov a chance to become the first rapper to be inducted (exciting).

It’s nice to see that despite all the Jay Z and Kanye drama , Hov hasn’t lost his focus and the mogul is making big  moves.

The release of Hov’s 1996 debut album Reasonable Doubt made him eligible for the award because candidates are eligible after 20 years of writing music.

Come to take a look at it,  Jay has  really piled up writing credits for hits like  “Hard Knock Life,” “Empire State of Mind” and “’03 Bonnie & Clyde,” his duet with Queen Bey . We really hope Jay is inducted and is able to make history.

The other  songwriters up for the class of 2017 include Madonna, George Michael, Cat Stevens, Jeff Lynne, Sly Stone, Gloria Estefan, Bryan Adams, Vince Gill , Bread’s David Gates and the songwriting teams that make up the bands Chicago and Kool & The Gang.

Eligible members can vote for two performing songwriters and three non-performing ones until Dec. 16. The final group of five individual writers or writing teams will be inducted in a ceremony to be held in New York on June 15.
