Jay-Z said “Yellow Basquiat in my kitchen corner”. This is ‘Diaspora’ by Mederic Turay (@turaymederic), a rapper and artist who loves to channel #Basquiat in his work.
For Turay, Art is a language of emotions. He attributes channeling Basquiat in his artistic style to ‘sensing a connection’ between himself and the late artist. “My work seeks to find a link between what I like and what my predecessors in the arts, in culture generally, liked.”
His work will be featured in the Fondation Donwahi booth at this year’s edition of #ARTXLagos. Don’t miss it – Jay would approve.
Venue: The Civic Centre in Victoria Island
Dates: from 3rd-5th November.
