Incredible news from the United States this Monday morning! The reign of Donald trump has finally ended.

Democratic candidates, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are projected as the winners of the United States presidential and vice-presidential election by CNN, NBC, the BBC, and Associated Press.

The former vice president defeated president, Donald Trump, who has called the integrity of the election into question.

In reaction to the projected victory, Biden said in a short statement he’s honored to have been elected to lead the country.

On the other hand, Kamala Harris is set to become the highest-ranking woman in the nation’s 244-year existence. She will become America’s first female vice president, as well as the first black and Asian woman to occupy the office. A huge win for women of color everywhere. In a victory speech on Saturday night, Biden called it “a time to heal in America”.

Harris praised Biden as “a healer, a uniter, a tested and steady hand” and spoke of what her win represented, saying, while she may be the first woman in this office, she will not be the last, because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities.

Kamala Harris has spent her life crashing through glass ceilings and accumulating “firsts”. She was:

-The first female district attorney of San Francisco,

-The first female attorney general of California,

-The first Indian American in the US Senate,

-The first Indian American candidate of a major party to run for vice-president.

Soon she will become the first female vice-president. If Joe Biden only serves one term, as expected, there is a chance that in 2024 she could become the first black female president.
