Just when we thought he had gotten judgement to be set free and N15M damages to compensate for his long suffering, we learnt that he is to be re-arraigned before an Abuja division of the Federal High Court on November 16 2016.
The ex-minister was facing multiple charges for diversion of funds for the purchase of arms and for being in possession of firearms.
He was granted bail by the two courts before whom the two charges were brought. But from the reports we have, his counsel, Joseph Daudu sought a merger of the charges since they border on the same allegations of the N41bn firearms scam.
The application for merger was forwarded to the chief judge, Justice Ishaq Bello for consideration.
The two cases were said to have been heard on Friday before one judge, Justice Hussein Baba-Yusuf, who announced the decision of the Chief Judge to bring both charges before one court.
According to the prosecution, Rotimi Joseph, by bringing both cases before the same judge, the issue of consolidation of charges would have been over-taken by events and would therefore not be an issue any more.
The matter was adjourned to the 16th of November, 2016.
