In Spain, Barcelona claimed the La Liga title for the seventh time in 10 years as a Messi hat-trick gave them a 4-2 victory over Deportivo la Coruna.
Messi’s hattrick ensured that he became the first player to score 30+ goals in seven straight seasons and also put him ahead in the race for the European golden shoe award ahead of Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah.
In England, Manchester City equalled a record in the EPL as they reached 100 Premier League goals for the season with a 4-1 win at struggling West Ham.
City who are now on 93 points also equalled the record of 30 wins in a season set by Chelsea last season.
In Scotland, Celtic secured their seventh consecutive Premiership title with a 5-0 thumping of Old Firm rivals Rangers.
The victory leaves Celtic on the brink of the historic achievement of winning back-to-back trebles, with Motherwell their opponents in the Scottish Cup final, having already beaten the Fir Park side in the League Cup final last November.
