After he was arrested on seven felony counts, including grand theft of a firearm, child neglect, possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of a weapon by a felon, and two counts of probation violation, Kodak Black has been sent to one year in jail.
Black, whose real name is Dieuson Octave, pleaded guilty to two probation violations — driving on a suspended license and associating with people committing crimes — after prosecutors dropped the other charges against him.
Bradford Cohen, Black’s attorney, said: “Just completely resolved @KodakBlack1k case. The State and Judge were professional and fair. I am happy not just for a client, but for a friend. There are great things in store for him, and he is glad to have this behind him.”
Black was facing up to 12 years of incarceration following his January 18 arrest on multiple charges. The charges of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, third-degree grand theft and child neglect were dropped a month later, but prosecutors added charges of felony possession of cannabis and possession of ammunition by a delinquent.
