Kodak Black is no longer Dieuson Octave. The jailed rapper has legally changed his name to Bill K. Kapri, according to reports. However, he will continue using Kodak Black as his stage name.
Bradford Cohen, Kodak’s attorney, said that his client wanted a fresh start. Black is currently serving a year-long prison sentence after pleading guilty to two probation violations: driving on a suspended license and associating with people committing crimes.
Cohen also said a child services investigation against Kodak has been dropped. The agency opened a case after learning his child was in the house at the time of his January 18 arrest for multiple gun and drug charges.
Kodak was arrested on Jan. 18 after his home was raided following an Instagram Live feed that displayed people around him smoking around his son and holding handguns.
