Get your tissues ready and be prepared to cry with this emotional America’s Got Talent performance. Pianist and singer Kodi Lee was met with a standing ovation and the golden buzzer for his performance on Season 14 of “America’s Got Talent.”
On the opening night of AGT’s , Kodi Lee shone with a riveting performance of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song for You.”. Kodi Lee, 22, took the stage with his mother Tina before performing the track.
“Kodi is blind and autistic,” Tina told judges including Gabrielle Union and Howie Mandel. “We found out that he loved music really early on. He listened and his eyes just went huge. He started singing and that’s when I was in tears because I realized, oh my gosh, he’s an entertainer! Through music and performing he was able to withstand living in this world . . . It actually has saved his life, playing music.”
It was tears all round as the judges took turns praising the young contestant. “Not only do we feel the authenticity of what you do but you’re a great inspiration and a great talent. It was amazing,” enthused Howie Mandel. “Your voice blew us all away,” Julianne Hough said. “I heard you, I felt you and it was beautiful.”

Simon Cowell didn’t mince his words. “What just happened there was extraordinary,” he remarked. “Your voice is absolutely fantastic, you have a really beautiful tone. Thank you so much for trusting us on this show. I’m going to remember this moment for the rest of my life.”
Gabrielle Union made sure Kodi and his mom would never forget the moment. She slapped down the golden buzzer, the first of the 2019 season.
