Former Southampton and Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been appointed as manager of the Netherlands. Koeman signed a four-and-half-year contract up which will include him qualifying the team for the 2022 World cup.

The Dutchman has been out of work since he was relieved of his duties by Everton in October.

Koeman played 78 times as a player for the Dutch team and won the European Championship back in 1988.

The Netherlands were runners-up at the 2010 World Cup and finished third in 2014 in Brazil but failed to qualify for Euro 2016 and this summer’s World Cup under former coach Dick Advocaat.
