The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode says he is ready to make Lagos the hub of all things entertainment, tourism and sports, amongst other things, in Africa.
Ambode, who spoke through his Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Hon. Mrs Adebimpe Akinsola said this in connection with the just-concluded Notting Hill Carnival in London, on UK’s Ben TV.
He said the decision to participate in the carnival was in line with the state government’s objectives to showcase the state’s entertainment and tourism potentials to the world.
He noted that in a bid to promote tourism, employment generation and relaxation, especially for the youths, the administration is working on implementing a project called “T.H.E.S.E.” which is an acronym for ‘Tourism, Hospitality, Entertainment and Sporting Excellence’.
“Under project T.H.E.S.E, we are resolved to grow the Lagos economy and empower the youth through several alternative means, which include the tactical promotion of tourism, entertainment and sports,” he said.
