Lewis Hamilton stunned Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel in the Spanish Grand prix in a tightly contested race.
A clever strategic move by the Mercedes team followed by Hamilton attacking prowess put the Briton in control as he defended successfully to the end.
Vettel had passed Hamilton off the start line to lead for the first half of the race but ended up out-flanked by their rivals.
Vettel had been in control since the start but Hamilton pressured him for the next seven laps before getting close enough to try for a pass at the start of lap 44 which he did with a perfect overtake and didn’t look back since then till the finish line.
Hamilton’s teammate, Valtteri Bottas retired late on which handed third place to Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo lurking behind 73 seconds behind Hamilton and Vettel.
This was Hamilton’s second triumph this season as he cut Vettel’s lead to just six points. All eyes will now shift to the Monaco GP coming up in two weeks’ time.
