Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has stated to the club that they first need to sign a replacement for Sadio Mane before they can consider selling him with a lot of you Europe’s top clubs circling.
The Senegalese forward and reigning African Player Of The Year has been a key driving force behind Liverpool’s rise to prominence and – should the season resume after the coronavirus epidemic – he will be a deserved recipient of a Premier League winners’ medal and many suspect he could even win the PFA player of the year award.
Mane is a man in demand, with the likes of Real Madrid said to be keen on tempting him away from Anfield. Will the allure of the Bernabeu be too much for Sadio?
“That’s only any good if you bring in Timo Werner,” Nichol said of Mane’s possible move said Nicol.
“Unfortunately there aren’t many [players like Werner] around. What if Werner wants to go elsewhere?
“The way it’s being talked about is if it’s done. ‘Timo Werner says he wants to go, so it’s done’.
“Guess what, there was a guy called Kylian Mbappe who told everyone he wanted to go to Real Madrid, he ended up at PSG.”
