Today’s woman crush is the beautiful dark skinned and award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o. Born in 1983 to Kenyan parents, she was given the name ‘Lupita’ as she was born in Mexico. Having grown up in an artistic family, Lupita quickly found her way into acting and took part in several school plays at an early age.
She proceeded to follow her passion by going to the United States to study film and theatre studies and thereafter a masters degree at Yale School of Drama. Before making it in to the limelight, Lupita worked as an actress in one short film, a production assistant in several movie crews and even featured in “Shuga” a popular drama by MTV Base and UNICEF about HIV/AIDS prevention.
Her major breakthrough came after her role in the widely acclaimed movie “12 Years a Slave” which garnered her several awards and world wide recognition. She also starred in the movie “Star Wars: The Force Awakens”.
This multi-language speaking actress is an ambassador for several organizations including Mother Health International and WILDAID and continues to show her support for wildlife and vulnerable women and children. This beauty is one of Africa’s brightest young women and a powerful force to reckon with and from what we see, there is no stopping her.
Slay Lupita, slaaaay!
