Marcus Rashford peaked Manchester United into the Champions Leageu quarter finals, with his 94th-minute penalty goal in their battle against Paris Saint Germain.
The Referee Damir Skomina had to consult the VAR after Diogo Dalot’s strike appeared to strike the elbow of Presnel Kimpembe, and pointed to the spot after two minutes of deliberation before Rashford hit the penalty past Guanluigi Buffon.
However, Manchester united striker Romelu Lukaku had scored to put United 2-1 ahead at half-time, but Juan Bernat’s goal was not enough to send PSG through.
It was a real smash-and-grab affair from United in attack, but it was Lindelof who gave a man of the match performance, and Smalling, who defended valiantly to reduce Mbappe and his team-mates effort to just the one goal.
Meanwhile Marcus Rashford kept his cool to send an injury-depleted United side into the last eight.
It would be recalled on PSG’s last-16 exit two years ago, when they threw away a 4-0 first-leg lead over Barcelona to lose 6-5 on aggregate, and that is now the third season in a row the French champions have been knocked out at the last-16 stage.
