Mario Testino shuts his New York creative agency and his making adjustments to his London Office… The photographer was accused of sexual assault earlier this year.
The Famed Photographer who was accussed of sexual assault and harassment in January this year – claims he has denied. In accounts dating back to the 90s, 13 male models and assistants of the famed photographer detailed their alleged experiences of sexual exploitation in a New York Times expose.
Conde Nast swiftly announced that it would not work with Testino again “for the fore sable future”, while Burberry, Michael Kors and Stuart Weitzman also dropped their photographer. WWD reports that Testino “continues to do commercial work” although it is unknown for whom.
His New York based creative agency, Mariotestino + has now ceased operations after opening a year ago. The photographer’s London office remains open, but a spokesperson said that there has been restructuring within the client –facing teams.
When the allegations first emerged, Testino’s legal team, Lavely & Singer, challenged the “Characters and credibility” of those who have made the claims, adding that they “cannot be considered reliable sources”. The lawyers also said that former employees were “shocked by the allegations” and “could not confirm any of the claims”.
