This weekend Marvel’s newest sorcerer movie “Doctor Strange” opened to a an amazing $86 million overseas.
The latest Marvel adventure doesn’t hit the U.S. until next week, but it’s already proving to be a hit with foreign crowds. Disney said that “Doctor Strange’s” opening is nearly 50% ahead of “Ant-Man,” 37% ahead of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” and 23% ahead of “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.”
The movie was directed by Scott Derrickso and stars Benedict Cumberbatch Tilda Swinton, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rachel McAdams.
The movie which earned $7.8 million is at the moment the company’s highest-grossing October launch on an international basis.
The movie premiered in 33 countries , including the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Germany, Mexico, Korea, and Hong Kong. It was the top-grossing movie in almost all the countries it premiered in.
The movie is still yet to hit other major countries like China, Brazil, Japan, and Russia.
