It’s reportedly over for Mary-Kate Olsen and her husband of five years, French finance banker, Olivier Sarkozy.
According to TMZ, Olsen has filed an emergency order that will allow for her to file for her divorce from her husband. The actress-turned-fashion designer reportedly originally filed on April 17th, but due to the coronavirus pandemic affecting New York and the rest of the world, courts in the city are not accepting divorce filings unless it’s for emergency situations.
According to records obtained by TMZ, Olsen is claiming that Sarkozy is threatening to kick her out of their shared New York apartment and had terminated their lease without her knowledge. The only way Olsen can assure her belongings at their household won’t be discarded is with the official emergency filing.
The “Full House” twin asked a Manhattan judge to stop her soon to be ex-husband from kicking her out of their luxury apartment in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis. The 33-year-old fashion designer believes she can’t meet the deadline her 50-year-old husband is giving her due to the statewide lockdown, which is expected to extend until at least June in New York City.
Documents indicate that Sarkozy has given Olsen until 18 May to move her belongings out of their home, despite her requesting an extension to 30 May, which he hasn’t responded to.
Olsen says the only way she can protect her property is if she’s to file a divorce petition. That would trigger an automatic court order preventing him from disposing of her property.
Olsen and Sarkozy, a French banker and half-brother to the former French president, Nicholas Sarkozy, began dating eight years ago and married in November 2015.
They have no children together, however, Sarkozy has two from his previous marriage.
