The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has raised concerns over the non-implementation of the National Health Act passed in 2014 by the Federal Government.

The president of the Association, Professor Mike Ogiri, lamented over the issue, which was named as one of the problems affecting the health sector.

He made the complaints at a press conference he held in Abuja on Monday, stating that, as part of the year’s NMA week, the NMA, it’s 37 branches and affiliates shall stage a walk on Wednesday, 26th of October.

Professor Ogiri said the walk will be a nationwide protest which he believes would draw the attention to their demands for the implementation of the Health Act.

His address also covered the slow progress of universal health coverage through the National Health Insurance Scheme as one of the major factors facing the health sector in Nigeria.
