Hi Guys, My name is Isoken and I’m a fashion designer, retailer and a creative & retail experience consultant who has been in the business of fashion since 2009.
I studied law, luxury hospitality and then business – but fashion has always been my first love. Obsessed with creating and contextualising fashion, whether its planning campaign visuals or designing a store experience, my love for fashion (especially with the creative challenges on the continent), knows no bounds.
I’m specifically interested in growing our industry, both in Nigeria and on the continent, and finding ways to work on and around our peculiar constraints. I believe our industry is on its way to explosive growth and bridging the gaps in consumer and designer education, as well as improving our value perception for African design in art, interiors, architecture and fashion are key to this growth. I believe in constant learning, self development and challenging the status quo.
I am above all, a work in progress. Join me as I write about everything from my personal struggles, to new things I’ve learnt on my entrepreneurial journey (and some basic fashpreneur bits and pieces). I’m striving to know and do more.
After all, as Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.”
Here’s to knowing more and doing better!
