The greatest player of all time has informed his club he would like to leave the club and terminate his contract. What has been an almost impossible relationship to come to an end, now appears to have finally reach the end.

Messi at the age of 33, has spent his entire professional career with Barcelona, scoring over 600 goals and winning ten league titles and four Champions Leagues. While winning uncountable individual awards, including six Ballon D’or.

The news of Messi asking to leave Barcelona, was reported by several outlets in Spain and Argentina, comes shortly after it was reported that Koeman and Barcelona have told Messi’s close friend Luis Suarez that he was no longer needed at the club.

The question now is, where could Messi go?

Firstly, there aren’t a lot of clubs that could afford his wage. Manchester City might be in the race to sign the Argentine, as City is managed by former Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola, who has also managed Messi in the past.

There are other reports of Manchester United also looking to sign him, along with Inter Milan. PSG could also afford to sign him, but they’d need to free up their wage structure, as they already have Mbappe and Neymar being one of the highest earners in world football.

Messi’s next destination would announced in the coming days, and the whole world would be watching. For now, Barcelona can only be proud of having the greatest player ever in football, play most part of his career at the club.
