Lionel Messi saw his perfect goal controversially cancelled as La Liga Barcelona fought back to earn a 1-1 draw at second-place Valencia.
The Argentina forward thought he had opened the scoring in the 30th minute when his tame strike from just outside the area was fumbled by Valencia goalkeeper Neto, with replays showing the ball crossed the line but referee Ignacio Iglesias did not see the goal.
Valencia then put more pressure on the Catalans when Rodrigo opened the scoring in the 60th-minute before Jordi Alba made sure of a point when volleyed in a late equaliser on his return to his former club to ensure their four points lead at the top was still intact.
Lionel Messi has now gone seven games without a goal in all competitions, his longest goal drought in 10 years.
