Mick Schumacher has won his first Formula 1 race at the same circuit his father Michael did 26 years ago.

Schumacher Sr. made his debut at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit in 1991 and claimed his first win a year later for Benetton on the same track.

The 19-year old driver overtook two of his team-mates to win from sixth and get his first victory in 45 attempts, though he suffered a collision early on in the race.

Mick’s father won 91 races and seven world titles during his career, clinching the last of those at Spa while driving for Ferrari in 2004. However, he suffered serious head injuries in a skiing accident in 2013 and has not been seen in public since.
