Gernot Rohr’s preparation for this year’s World Cup has been dealt a further blow Mainz defender Leon Balogun has failed to recover on time from a rib injury which has kept him out of action for over two weeks now.

Leon Balogun

The 29-year old won’t make this weekend’s trip to Borussia Dortmund after the Coach informed the club through their media sources that he has not been able to participate in full training.

However, Balogun still believes his injury is not as bad as it’s being reported and that he’ll be fit for the World Cup.

Rohr already have three key players on his injury list. They are Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, Joel Obi of Torino who is somehow battling with some knee complaints and Alex Iwobi though he was listed for Arsenal’s Europa League tie at Atlético Madrid.

The central defender has not featured for Mainz since April 16, 2018.
